Alec Harrison: A Road Not Taken

Alec Harrison was born on January 3, 1992, in Plano, Texas, where he attended his first 12 years of school. At a young age, Harrison was talented and had a love for basketball. He probably didn’t think he’d grow up to be 6’7. His father told him upfront that going pro in basketball is rare, but Harrison still continued to play until college—being the open-minded individual he is.

After graduating in 2010 with a 5.3 GPA, Harrison decided to go to school at Arkansas State University for 2 years where he majored in Advertising and minored in psychology. When asked why he is pursuing a degree in Advertising, Harrison responded, “I’ve always leaned towards advertising.” Although, he doesn’t really care for advertisements; he has a different type of artistic view with what he wants to do with his degree. “I would prefer to create things like cartoons and movies,” Harrison said. He also wants be a voice maker.

His third year, he decided to transfer to Texas State University where he went to school on and off, working at Apple in order to gain money for college. It is now his senior year of college, and he works at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas.  Harrison is friendly and laid-back, so it does not bother him working and serving others at his job in Austin. On his time off, he enjoys snowboarding at Lake Taupo in Breckenridge, Texas,
and spending time with his dog, Mowgli.
